The island was discovered by Christopher in 1492, after which has been between the French and the British for fourteen times. In 1979 the Island gain its independence from England, and is now self ruled by a Prime minister who is elected and serves as the Head of the Island for a five year term.

Saint Lucia natives are very friendly and courteous. Though the official language is English, however, since Saint Lucia was also French at one time, the natives speak a Creole French which is a combination of French, a little English and a Spanish.
